Jólabókaflóð

The above title refers to the Icelandic tradition of a 'book flood' in the months before Christmas.  It is the period in Iceland when most of the new titles for the year are published, ensuring lots of reading available for that book hungry little nation.  Five titles are published for every 1000 citizens of that small nation of three hundred thousand souls.  There is nothing more soothing for a solitary and independent Icelander than to curl up with a book on Christmas Eve.  Here is Ramón, doing his darnedest to keep up with his reading while Ralph Graves helps him out of his cadet uniform.  The still is from The Flying Fleet, a romantic actioner of Novarro's from 1929.
